Wine Tasting in Sunny (and HOT) Santorini, Greece! Part of A Shore Excursion with Norwegian Cruise!

As we continued our cruise across the Aegean sea, we made a short stop in the beautiful volcanic island of Santorini. Of course, if you are traveling to the Greek Islands, chances are you made note of Santorini, or Thira (the official name of the island).

This island is small, but it packs a punch as far as tourism and travel goes. We started our day with a visit to the Santo Winery located on the south side of the island. Here we tried a variety of amazing Greek wines, which really added to our travel experience. We also got some amazing views out over the caldera, which was definitely a plus!

After visiting the winery, we took a bus ride for about 40 minutes over to the cliff city of Oia. This city is one of those that you have probably seen with the whitewashed buildings and blue roofs that are all over the best travel magazines and websites. The views here, not surprisingly, were spectacular. We walked around the crowded shopping streets of the city before stopping for a quick beer at a local shop.

After Oia, we made our way to the most populous and most visited part of the island, the city of Fira. This city, once again, is located on the cliffs looking out over the caldera, giving amazing views of the waters nearly 1,000 feet below. We could see our ship plain as day here, as well as the many other ships that dotted the waters in the bay. We stopped for some food here before getting on the cable car and traveling back down to our ship.

Santorini is an amazing place. It has spectacular Aegean views and is an amazing place to travel to. We really enjoyed our quick visit here!
