The stock market from 2022 has been marked as having one of the toughest years in nearly a century, making 2022’s equity the worst year since the Global Financial Crisis in 2008.

A vicious combination of contradictory policy, volatility, and inflation at 40-year highs erased a whopping $ 14 trillion of wealth from the global stock markets! Talks of a US recession in early March 2023 are littered over all the news headlines, and for the majority of the year, most of us just saw a sea of red in our portfolios.

But I am glad to see that the first month of 2023 has been really good for our portfolios, with the S&P 500 up by 8.6%, the JSE Top 40 up by 6.4%, and Bitcoin up by a whopping 41.4%! And seeing that it is a new year, I made some exciting new additions to my own portfolio, which I will be sharing with you guys today. So buckle up, and let’s get started!
