BANINTL Xi-Beta Galleon, Trinidad Frigate Chapter Commissions Borehole Project in Badagry

Fasola Abiodun Fawas, Chairman, Brothers Across Nigeria International (BANINTL), Xi-Beta Galleon, Trinidad Frigate Chapter, on Saturday commissioned a borehole water project in Iworo-Awori Community, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Badagry, Lagos State, as part of the organisation’s community development and public health initiatives.

Fawas said the project was borne out of the critical need for clean and safe water in the community, describing water as fundamental to human survival. According to him, “water is life,” adding that the group also provided an electric-powered system to ensure efficient and sustainable use of the facility. He assured residents that the organisation would continue to give back to society through people-oriented interventions that address pressing community needs.

The Royal Father of the Day, HRM Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, Oba Oladele Kosoko, commended the organisation for the initiative, describing the project as uncommon among private groups. He said the borehole would significantly improve the well-being of residents, noting that such interventions were rarely undertaken by non-governmental organisations.

The monarch urged other groups and well-meaning individuals to take a cue from the initiative and contribute to community development, likening his appeal to the “Oliver Twist” call for more support to grassroots communities.

Mr. Dauda Aina Isaac, Councillor, Ward A, Olorunda LCDA, and Leader of the House, expressed appreciation to the organisation for the project, noting that access to potable water would enhance safety and help curb the spread of water-borne diseases. He appealed to residents to ensure proper and seamless maintenance of the facility to guarantee its sustainability.

An indigene and resident of the community, Mrs. Regina Olanrewaju Kosoko, also lauded the organisation, stressing the importance of clean and safe water to healthy living. “Water is essential to a healthy livelihood, not just water, but clean and safe water for domestic use,” she said.

She prayed for the continued success of the organisation in providing social amenities and assured that the community would take collective responsibility for the maintenance and protection of the borehole.

The event was attended by members of Brothers Across Nigeria International, traditional rulers, community stakeholders and residents, who described the project as a significant contribution to improving living conditions in Iworo-Awori Community.
