And now a quick video about upgrading the Yokai Watch U. Granted, I jump from Ver. 1.0 to Ver. 3.0, but it's simple enough.

To download the update, click all the checkboxes above the lightbulb guy (Edgyson) to make the button with Edgyson in it light up. It will download as a .zip file. Once unzipped, open the Install Tool (The icon with a watch face) and use it to place the .yki file on your EMPTY SD card. If there is no install tool, just drag the .yki file straight to the SD card. Then just follow the video.
