Gene Vanden Bosch’s life began with music at age 8, with the trumpet. Instead of playing baseball, Gene would spend his summers playing in small combos with his friend or marching in a drum and bugle corps, which he was involved in for 15 years, either as a playing member or as an instructor. Gene began playing the baritone horn in high school and taught himself the trombone to play in jazz bands. Gene holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in music education. After his university days, he taught middle and high school instrumental music in the northwest Illinois area for 34 years, retiring in 2006. Gene’s wife, Pam, relocated to Wisconsin in 2019 to be closer to our family. Gene currently plays in several local jazz ensembles, a church brass ensemble, and the Oregon Community Band. Gene is also the Wisconsin State Director for Bugles Across America, playing for various veteran functions, including rendering TAPS at military funerals.
Music performed Euphonium "Going Home" by Mary Fahl used in the opening credits for the movie "Gods And Generals" "Eternal Father" (Navy Hymn) Followed By Taps.
