Overview & location
Pdem Falls is located in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.
It lies in the Mawkynrew block / area (some sources mention near Mawkynrew)
From Shillong, it is about 67 km (or “around” that) and takes roughly 2 hours 45 minutes by road in favorable conditions.
From Guwahati, as part of a trekking / travel package, it is sometimes cited as ~165 km / ~5.5 hours (with road + trek) in some schedules.
Features & what to expect
It is relatively less visited, making it more a hidden gem rather than a major tourist hotspot.
The waterfall is said to be multi-tiered — cascading over more than one ledge / level.
The drop / height is quoted as around 20 to 25 feet in some tourist write-ups.
The water flows into rocky pools, and the surroundings are lush forest / green vegetation.
The path to the falls involves trekking — the last stretch is on foot.
Best time to visit & conditions
The best time is often given as October to April (post-monsoon / dry period) for easier trails and clear visibility.
During the monsoon season, the trail can get slippery and muddy, making trekking more challenging. But also the waterfall flow is more intense / spectacular then.
Because it's relatively remote and less developed for tourism, there may be little infrastructure (few stalls, limited signage). It’s good to go with a guide or local help.
Things to carry & tips
Good trekking / hiking shoes (grip)
Water, snacks / light food
Rain protection (if visiting near monsoon)
A change of clothes / towel
Possibly a local guide or someone familiar with the route
Be cautious on slippery paths or crossing streams
