LOOK at all these long TRAINS and big SHIPS in Cleveland Ohio

Here is a collection of cool stuff that we saw in Cleveland (not all on the same day!) I haven't uploaded a ship video in a while so I'm including a few freighters in this edition,

CSX 8435 leads an empty rail train west through Collinwood through the fuel pad and past BE tower. This was a major yard in the New York Central days. At the mouth of the Cuyahoga River the 1949 build steamer Wilfred Sykes is being assisted by tug Ohio. Their approaching bridge NS 1 which still had a train on it. NS 1 is the bridge that carried the NYC Water Level Route.

We the skip down to NS 2, the NKP's route across the Cuyahoga. NS 1069 the Virginian heritage unit is leading a mixed freight with a recently purchased engine trailing. We motored on over the Cleveland's east side to catch C46 working the SIlverplate. We did something different and chased them crossing to crossing filming out the window with the DJI Osmo. Over at E26th where the Silverplate joins the mainline we catch an eastbound sand train with a pair of SD70ACu's on the head, NS 7265 leading.

Down by the river at Center St we see the American Courage pass through and the bridge swing closed. My Osmo was new so I wanted to try out how it was from a moving car on a bumpy road so we drove over the Center St bridge and down Columbus Rd. At the former depot the rd becomes Canal Rd and we follow that a ways. I didn't film the whole drive down to the Cliffs mill since there was road construction ahead.

Our first sighting at the mill was CWRO 1556 switching some scrap gons. We also was 208 and 216 running lite for the crew change. Our last boat of the video is the 1942 build Alpena departing under NS1. She is the oldest boat on the Great Lakes. That was actually shot at the beginning of the season when she came out of layup.
