Marwell Zoo Honest Review: Hidden Gem or Underwhelming?

Marwell Zoo is our local Zoo, it has seen a lot of changes over the years and this is the first time we have covered it on the channel... but...

Is it actually quite an underwhelming Zoo?

We have been visiting Marwell for many years, and whilst seeing the zoo expand with areas like Wild Explorers, the Tropical House and the new Wildlands for 2024. Why does it just feel so run down and empty?

Marwell actually has one of the largest land spaces in the UK Zoo scene set in a lovely located. You can encounter animals such like Rhinos, Snow Leopards, Giraffes and Rhinos. With a walk through Wallaby and Avairy experiences also. A land train, places to eat and picnic the Zoo seems to be well placed.

For us, it feels like a huge missed opportunity, with areas empty, closed, effects and projectors not working we always feel really underwhelmed with our visits. Especially given what we have seen at Yorkshire, West Midlands and Chester, even the little Peak up by Alton Towers.
