This is the Northern Watersnake (Nerodia sipedon sipedon), a subspecies of the Common Watersnake! As one of the most common reptiles across the eastern U.S., this species is often mistaken as a venomous Copperhead or Cottonmouth. In this video I explain the appearance, behavior, and other facts about this snake! I also touch on the distinguishing factors between common watersnakes and similar venomous species... a topic I will expound upon in video coming soon!
