Now that everything's "nice and new" with the new company, and I'm done with the old, I figured it was time to update the descriptor on Zone 27, which just said "Zone 27" instead of having an alphanumeric descriptor saying what it was.
Zone 27 is a wireless smoke detector mounted just outside the kitchen and garage area. This VISTA 20SE panel has a number of built-in descriptors which are fairly easy to program, of course once you know how. Basically you enter programming mode, go to the particular item you are going to edit, select it, select programming mode, select zone, select zone again, and enter the three-digit code from a list for the particular word(s) you want. Then you save that and exit programming mode. Done.
While I'm in this mode I run through all the descriptors, basically showing that just about every point of entry on this house is protected. It was actually a pretty well-designed system and well thought out installation.
