Chirag Paswan has declared that he is going to be the 'X-Factor' in the Bihar Assembly Elections likely to be held in October-November this year.
In an hour-long interveiw with Rahul Shrivastava on The HotSpot, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) conveyed that unlike the "challenger" in 2020, this year Chirag Paswan is positioning himself as a potential "kingmaker" for the NDA in Bihar.
Chirag Paswan was categorical that he holds no resentment against any of the NDA allies for either the 2021 split in his party or his political marginalisation till he and his LJP(RV) made a comeback in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Chirag says the Narendra Modi-led alliance is the best place for him to consolidate his father Ram Vilas Paswan's political legacy.
He was candid while talking about his past and admitted that he joined politics in 2011 after proving to be a "flop actor".
A big revelation that he made in the Hotspot interview was regarding the difficulty he faced while persuading his father to join the NDA ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha election.
He mentioned how in 2013, his father could not get a meeting with the then Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for at least four months. It invariably became one of the factors that forced the Paswans to quit the Congress-led UPA.
While he emphasised that he would be pitching for unity among Bihar's youth to take the state forward, he said he is aware that caste continues to be a factor in the elections. He gave examples of how discrimination in the name of caste still persists.
