Pa. Gov. Josh Shapiro grew up just outside Philadelphia as the son of a pediatrician and a teacher, and he says they instilled in him a dedication to serving his community.Shapiro, who is Jewish, says he brings the values learned in the home and from his faith to every act he does as governor. He says community action is important, and he wants more young people to embrace service and organizing instead of retreating into digital spaces and social media.
Michael Smerconish spoke to Shapiro live from Temple University’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service—right after the governor finished putting together a book giveaway box—where he addressed all that, plus the explosive revelation that Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign had asked what he considered “offensive” questions about his connections to Israel.
