From Nindigully our TVAN tour continues, cutting through central western NSW to Mungo National Park. Along the way we stop for lunch at the Carinda Hotel, setting for David Bowie's "Let's Dance" film clip, then push on to Glenhope free camp at Cobar. The following day we head down the Old Wool Track to Ivanhoe then cross the vast salt flat of the Willandra Lakes to reach Mungo.
Mungo is a World Heritage protected park with a rich tapestry of history that includes evidence of Australia's first people living here 50,000 years ago, most notably Mungo Man and Mungo Lady. The national park also encompasses two former sheep stations; Mungo and Zanci and remains of those homesteads adds some pioneering history as well.
