6 Proofs That Nothing Exasperates Like the Bible

Ephesians 6:4 says "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." We see a similar scripture in Colossians 3:21: "Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged." In some translations we see the word provoke instead of exasperate or embitter. The standard definition of exasperate, which is similar to provoke or embitter, is to irritate and frustrate someone intensely to the point of discouragement. Keep those specific words in mind. So, when we see the Bible giving these instructions to parents, especially fathers, we are to understand that the Godly father is practicing what he preaches. Are we not? In other words, we can best understand the fatherly nature and character of God in how he instructs earthly fathers to behave, especially toward their children. When God tells Earthly fathers not to exasperate their children, we should expect that God himself will not exasperate us. He will never intensely frustrate us so that we become discouraged, right?
