Join Dr. Jessica Pelletier and Dr. Manoj Thomas from Techies Without Borders (TWB) for a compelling webinar presented by the SAEM Informatics interest group. TWB is a US-based nonprofit dedicated to ensuring access to up-to-date, evidence-based medical care globally, irrespective of resource constraints, socioeconomic status, race, gender, education, or location. They address significant barriers to high-quality continuing medical education (CME) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), such as unreliable internet and electricity, and financial limitations.
Learn about TWB's innovative Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) solutions, including their medical resource library called Continuing Medical Education Solutions (CMES). This system provides bedside access to relevant medical information through a tiny computer that generates an intranet signal, a simple USB drive, and a phone app, all accessible without an internet connection and at no cost to clinicians. The database is regularly updated when connected to the internet and can be tailored to a site's specific needs. TWB also fosters a culture of continuous education through a free monthly Journal Club and an email series featuring a case of the month with review questions.
Discover how TWB empowers health care providers in low-resource settings through Citizen-Centric Capacity Development (CCD), enabling them to advance their own ICT capacity and foster continuous medical education.
