Top 100 Shoegaze Albums of 2025

For the benefit of a handful of people, this is the channel’s top 100 shoegaze/dreampop albums of 2025. This is only the channel’s personal preferences and not by any means the general consensus of the best albums of the year.

Please note that there are traces of psych, dreampop, post rock, post punk, goth and all sorts…. please don’t feel the need to point this out (especially with number 2 entry which is too fantastic to scrap).

There are noticeable omissions because the criteria were that each album:
1. Must be longer than 30 minutes
2. Cannot be a live album
3. Cannot be a compilation or “best of” type album
4. Is not AI or potentially AI

If anyone feels something obvious was missed, please comment…. there was a bit of whittling, and some interesting albums had to be left out. If an entry seems low, bear in mind that the full list was whittled down from over 240 so it's still great.

An album is a delicate work of art, that can be ruined by only a couple of tracks or be exceptional based on the flow of the album even if there are weaker tracks. Some albums not in the list had strong tracks but may have been let down by a couple of duffers (such as screamo tracks).

Some notes on selection: The honourable mention is one that came out in December by a band that doesn’t seem to have any information anywhere, so not sure if this is genuine or what the story is. It’s a really nice album though. Can’t even remember where the recommendation came from sadly, but if anyone has any information on it that would be good to know.
