Ukrainian Halloween | Paganism of East Slavs | Koliadka, Veles Night, Svyatki | Slavic paganism

Did you know that East Slavs have their own version of Halloween? That day people on territories of modern Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and other Eastern-European countries dress into special costumes and go from house to house to collect sweets, candies and even money? Today this tradition is closely tied to Christian Christmas but it has roots in pre-Christian pagan traditions. This review focuses on such pagan Slavic traditions as Veles Night, Koliadka, and Svyatki.
