Soccer Room Makeover! ⚽ Personalized, Cozy & Kid-Friendly! Pottery Barn Style on a Budget!

I FINALLY did it — I gave my son’s bedroom a total makeover, and I could not be more excited to share it with you! ⚽🛏️ This makeover has been a long time coming, especially now that his closets are finished (complete with the secret door you may remember from our home addition series!).

Out of all of our kids, he was the only one who kept his original room when we added onto our home, so I wanted to make it feel extra special for him. He’s our little soccer superstar, so I leaned into a soccer/sports-themed bedroom — but I really tried to make it a space that can grow with him as he gets older. He’s 8 now, and sports have been his thing for years, so I figured it was a pretty safe bet! 🙌

This makeover includes:

⚽ Pottery Barn sports bedding & decor

🛋️ A soccer ball–style bean bag chair with a sherpa personalized cover

🖼️ A huge custom iron name sign shaped like a soccer ball

📚 A full Pottery Barn bedroom set (bed frame, dresser, bookshelf, and more!) that I scored secondhand on Facebook Marketplace — I couldn’t believe the deal!

🧱 A fun LEGO wall board from Pottery Barn

🏆 A new wall shelf for trophies and photos

🎉 And yes — we even installed LED lights (and yes, they took forever, but they look awesome!)

I wanted this room to feel like something out of a Pottery Barn Kids magazine — but with all the practicality and real-life charm of a room that actually gets lived in. It's kid-friendly, fun, functional, and totally HIM.

And let me tell you — those Facebook Marketplace finds were absolutely unbelievable. The stars aligned, and I was able to get nearly the whole Pottery Barn set for pennies on the dollar. Proof that it pays to wait and dig a little!
