When I activate a POTA Park, I typically run a wire from the Tri mag-mount to the vehicle tailpipe to help improve the ground plane of the antenna.. Many folks ask me if that wire connection really helps or not ? .. I honestly don't know, but to a Rookie like me, it kind of made sense, right?..
The Idea came from Ray K6RBM as I was struggling with making calls using a Ham Stick on the roof of the car.. He suggested the use of the tailpipe to provide additional ground plane..
In this video, we did some "Exhaustive" (lol) WSPR testing to try and find an answer.. Did we find one?... You can be the judge.. thx for visiting.. k0klb
