The purpose of permanency hearings in general is to compel a resolution of the case so the child does not remain indefinitely in the system. The court conducts a permanency hearing to determine what permanency plan is in the childs best interest.
Speakers include Judge John B. Sumner, Juvenile Court of Cherokee County, and Judge Philip B. Spivey, Juvenile Court of Baldwin County. March 2009
The Georgia Child Welfare Legal Academy series is a collaboration between the Supreme Court of Georgia Committee on Justice for Children and the Barton Child Law and Policy Clinic to bring child welfare legal experts to Emory Law School for a monthly workshop as Visiting Scholars in Practice.
