Buffalo Trace is our Best Mid-Shelf Bourbon to use as a benchmark, and today we compare it to Woodford Reserve. Both of these Kentucky Straight bourbons have more similarities than they do differences. Mash bills are close, age in oak is close, and alcohol by volume, among other things. There are a few differences when it comes down to taste and smell that set these two great bourbons apart, ever so slightly.

Buffalo Trace Tasting Notes:
This deep amber whiskey has a complex aroma of vanilla, mint and molasses. Pleasantly sweet to the taste with notes of brown sugar and spice that give way to oak, toffee, dark fruit and anise. This whiskey finishes long and smooth with serious depth.

Woodford Reserve:
The art of making fine bourbon first took place on the site of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a National Historic Landmark, in 1812. The perfectly balanced taste of our Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is comprised of more than 200 detectable flavor notes, from bold grain and wood, to sweet aromatics, spice, and fruit & floral notes.
