Playful Aussie Seal Steals the Show! Rolling & Rafting at The Entrance, NSW #ViralWildlife


Filmed off The Edith Ring Rest near the Ocean Baths at The Entrance, NSW, this captivating footage showcases a smaller, likely female Australian fur seal (Arctocephalus pusillus doriferus) engaging in natural behaviours.

Watch as she performs playful rolling movements, a common sign of agility and rest in these social animals, followed by upending with her rear flippers raised out of the water. This "rafting" or "seal banana pose" is a thermoregulatory behaviour, helping the seal manage body temperature by exposing her flippers to air or sunlight.

This solo seal’s graceful display was a fascinating sight without the normally present larger seals nearby.
