This video presents a live, improvised musical performance featuring the bitRanger (Bastl Instruments and Casper Electronics) and the Lyra-4 (SOMA Laboratory). The recording was made in a single take, with no pre-conceived musical structures or patches. It was then lightly mastered in ProTools.
I did have some technical issues with the camera focus, but I felt that the combo bitRanger/Lyra-4 worked so well that I really wanted to release the video, so I used some video effects to enhance the visual presentation—hopefully they will not detract from the experience. Anyway, and without a doubt, I anticipate to explore this combination further in future videos.
The bitRanger is a patchable analog logic computer that creates a wide range of unique sounds, from glitchy noise to melodic arpeggios. Its extensive patchbay allows for experimentation and integration with other devices, making it a versatile tool for both studio and live performances.
The Lyra-4 is a four-voice analog drone synthesizer. Its design incorporates touch-sensitive metal contacts that allow for a tactile and expressive playing style, capable of producing a wide range of sounds and textures.
Lightly mastered in ProTools.
