Bats rarely bite, but when they do, the consequences can be deadly. While dog and terrestrial wildlife bites once topped the list, it’s now bats that are behind most rabies deaths in America. Explore how these winged creatures became the leading source of rabies fatalities in recent decades.
Speaker: Rodney Rohde, Ph.D., SM(ASCP), SVCM, MBCM, FACSc, is Regents' Professor, Texas State University System, university distinguished professor and Chair of the Medical Laboratory Science Program in the College of Health Professions at Texas State University, where he also serves as the Associate Director of the Translational Health Research Center. He holds certifications as a specialist in virology, specialist in microbiology and molecular biologist from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
