WORLD'S LARGEST MAN-MADE EXCAVATION-KENNECOTT COPPER MINE-BINGHAM CANYON MINE-RIO TINTO MINE IN SALT LAKE CITY-UTAH Take the mine tour with Sue & I as we show you the world's largest man-made "hole" what has been in operation since 1906! This mine is being worked in the Oquirrh Mountains, south of Salt Lake City Utah. This open pit is 5/8 of a mile deep, and 2.5 miles in dia. It covers 2000 acres, and has provided much of the copper used in the world today.
