Henry Purcell (1659-1695) - "Seek not to know" (God of dreams, The Indian Queen, 1695).

clearly, it is almost like an imaginary being within the same imaginary story. I believe it is a personification of destiny, of good or bad fortune; it is the representation of what we will never know and that we indefatigably seek to know. This brief aria somehow establishes a significant link with Purcell's masterpiece ("Dido & Aeneas") and, at the same time, serves as a prelude to the Cantata "La mort de Didon" by M. P. de Montéclair (1667-1737).
