Canoe Camping: Angelina River in East Texas

A few friends and I spent the weekend on our annual overnight canoe camping trip on the Angelina River in East Texas. This is a great way to unwind for a few days while we float down the cool, clean, clear waters of the Angelina River as they flow south from Sam Rayburn Dam. Overall trip is 16 miles. We canoe 10 miles on day 1 and camp on the river at one of the Corps of Engineers campsites and then canoe 6 miles on day 2 finishing up at Martin Dies, Jr. State Park.
