National City: Fully Engulfed House Fire Displaces Residents & Pets 9/16/2025

LOCATION: 822 E. 04th St.
AREA/CITY: National City, CA.
DETAILS:
Firefighters responded to a report of a residential fire at the 800 block of 04th Street in National City.
When First Responders arrived, they encountered a fully engulfed single-story residence with heavy smoke and fire showing. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and were able to knock it down within minutes of arrival.
Firefighters managed to save 2 cats that were still in the residence at the time of the fire. The American Red Cross was requested to assist the occupants who were displaced as the fire destroyed the entire house.
No injuries to the occupants or firefighters were reported.
Fire investigators are on scene currently and are investigating the origin of the fire. A stretch of Highland Ave. has been closed to commuter traffic from E. 3rd St. to E. 6th St.
