Rock Lake Middle School FBA district performance 1992

Performance at the FBA Festival when this band received a Superior rating. Conducted by John Gorecki back in the 1980s and '90s, this band program was the model band in the Orlando area that most music directors admired and attempted to model after. Thanks John for setting an example of a really good music program and for sharing your expertise with your fellow band directors over the years. A side note here: middle school bands were basically responsible for playing grade II material at the District Festivals and this band always performed much more difficult literature, usually a grade 5. Although a risky endeavor for a young band, John was always able to pull it off and amaze other music directors who had the opportunity to hear this fine group. The success of this feeder program for the local high schools was one of the reasons Lake Mary and Lake Brantley High Schools were strong programs, which helped the HS programs be the strongest in the area. This collaboration worked nicely and permitted the HS directors (Terry Pattishall and Cindy Berry) to take these students to the next high levels. The performance here is Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo.
