Lost History; Secrets & Oldest Photos of The Washington Monument (1848-1885) Constructed or Founded?

Howdy ya’ll. Today we will dive back into Washington D.C., looking at the oldest photographs of The Washington Monument taken from roughly the earliest construction phase in 1848 through completion and dedication in 1885. Remarkably, from the images we have that were taken during this time period, the base level of The Washington Monument appears very weathered and aged beyond just a few years.

We will search the currently accepted history of The Washington Monument, (including alleged construction photographs) trying to decode any anomalies, while also entertaining theories regarding the monument and Washington D.C. in general.
