This week we sat with one of the most tender and powerful scenes in the Gospels: the risen Jesus restoring Peter after his denial. Around a charcoal fire, just like the one where Peter had failed, Jesus asks not for explanations, but for love. “Do you love me?” It’s a question that exposes and heals all at once; love, not performance, is the foundation of Christian obedience.
Restoration doesn’t come after we clean ourselves up. It comes when we stop hiding, look Jesus in the eye, and offer him even our trembling affection.
That kind of love should change how we live this week. Not just in the big, spiritual moments, but in the classroom, the kitchen, the office, and the moments we’re tempted to settle for less. If you’re stuck, either in guilt or just in spiritual inertia, Jesus meets you there. He restores you not just to peace, but to purpose.
The question isn’t “Are you strong enough to serve him?” The question is “Do you love him?” And if the answer is yes, even a hesitant yes, his answer is still the same, “Feed my sheep. Follow me.”
