In this four week course, you will learn about the PD-PRO diet and its connection improved quality of life with Parkinson’s disease, how to manage common Parkinson’s symptoms, transitioning to a plant-based diet, and the role of diet in reducing inflammation and supporting brain health. Acquire the knowledge and tools to integrate brain-protective foods into your daily meals, all while optimizing nutrition and flavor.
Session One: Intro to the PD-PRO Diet and Nutritional Management of Common Parkinson’s Symptoms
Presenter: Kelly Morrow, MS, RDN, FAND
Kelly Morrow is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has been on the faculty at Bastyr University since 2002 where she has supervised clinical rotations at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health and taught in the Departments of Nutrition and Exercise Science, Naturopathic Medicine, Midwifery and Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine. Kelly has been a private practice since 2000 and has previously worked at Evergreen Hospital in radiation oncology, the Booth Gardner Parkinson’s Center and in Community Health Promotions. She is an affiliate dietitian with the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Washington, is a past Chair of Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and is a Co- Editor of Krause and Mahan’s Food and the Nutrition Care Process textbook.
