Hi,
This episode:
Dig out some original paint and thereby creating some well loved (by me at least) Patina
before:
I am taking off the glued on head badge in preparation for a MUCH MUCH more beautiful one :-)
in my first Video for the #cheapbikebuildoff2026
(well I am assuming there will be a buildoff, and if not - absolutely in any case will I build this bike :-))
Expand the rear triangle from 110 mm to 130 mm to receive a 10 speed wheel.
In episode 2 I will show some more plans and continue on the major challenges on this bike.
In general:
I am resto - moding my build from 2024, as, well - everything gets better by making it better by applying improved knowledge and experience :-)
I will restart from a 99% naked frame.
The frame was a pedestrian 1970ties Italian lugged steel road frame that has been improved by applying countless man-hours already,
but this time round it will be developed in a perfect daily to survive Singapore.
All without welding (Because I still have not found a friend yet who I willing to help me on some changes I like to weld)
Mainly I am changing from singlespeed to geared, and back to a Hybrid fork, pls adding comfort, and better brakes.
As this will be built from 100% parts out of my parts bin, there will be no purchases necessary at all. I will price it up in the last episode as if I had to buy all on Carrousell or eBay, though.
