Zombies have always been apart of Yu-Gi-Oh's metagame. They were one of the stronger decks in 2007 during the GX anime, before 5ds introduction of Synchro monsters. With Synchro summoning they can summon powerful Synchro monsters such as Brionac or Goyo Guardian, as well as climbing up into the Signer dragons such as Yusei Fudo's Stardust Dragon. Perhaps we will see a change in the coming formats after a good shakeup from the new banlist and Zombie can once again be viable in the 2025 Yugioh TCG, Master Duel, or Duel Links.
