My name is Katherine Walters. I'm a Wire Artist, Wire Knitter, Wire Jewelry maker and Artisan Entrepreneur living on rugged Bell Island, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Here on my channel you will find jewelry making and wire knitting tips, tricks and tutorials to help you make beautiful and decorative items for yourself and your home. Using simple tools and materials, you will learn how to do different types of wire knitting as well as wire working skills necessary to bring your creative ideas to life.
Today’s video:
You will learn a new type of wire knitting: how to make the stitches and prepare them for knitting, then how to construct a snowflake shaped pendant.
This is an adaptation of an existing design I first made in my former business The Purple Raven. You may make pendants for sale using this tutorial provided you credit me, Katherine Walters, as the original designer, and acknowledge Ruth Asawa as the inspiration for the technique.
Tools and materials needed to make the pendant::
20g dead soft copper wire
Chain nose pliers
Small bench block or anvil
Chasing hammer
7mm knitting needle
3.5 - 4 mm steel knitting needle
Pro-polish pad, jewelry cloth or extra fine steel wool to clean your wire
Automotive sandpaper (approx. 1000 to 1200 grit)
Flush cutters
Nylon jaw pliers
