The first verse of the first track here - Revolt Into Style by Bill Nelson's Red Noise nail the theme of this week's mix "And though I know the time is almost 1984... It feels like 1965". Ironically, I'm not at all sure Bill Nelson is or would identify with the Mod revivalists, but it's a great song and an apt lyric.
Having grown up listening to more punk music than anything, i think I probably knew the Mod Revival scene of the early 80s before I knew the mod scene itself, but I wanted to try and bring them both together. Lots of the music I play on this channel is what the mods were listening to in the sixties, but I rarely play actual mod (or mod revival bands) themselves. There are a few tracks I love in here, a few brilliant soul covers, and hopefully one or two you might not have heard before.
Which is your favourite, the originals from the sixties, the revivalists from the 80s, or would you rather just have the soul and jazz that inspired them all?!
This channel is not making any money from the uploading of these videos, and I only share this music to share the love of it with others.
