This stunning old brick school house was built in the early 1900’s just after World War 1 ended, sometime between 1921 to 1926. It was built as a more modern high school for the local students and operated until the late 1970’s. Until finally closing its doors in 1978. It features large classrooms with massive windows in every room, allowing plenty of natural light in and even has an auditorium on the second floor. Supposedly it originally had a slate roof but was replaced sometime with a metal roof before it closed down which has most likely helped keep it so intact . A new larger more modern school was built sometime afterwards. For nearly 4 decades now the school has been crumbling away patiently waiting for a new lease on life. Incredible to think the school operated for only half a century before shutting down for good. The brick work and stunning double flanked staircases inside are gorgeous and I can only imagine how neat it would’ve been to walk the halls when it was filled with people and the comings and goings of teachers and students walking its halls. Truly a shame to see this beautiful piece of American history left to disappear. I really hope it can find a new use and be restored before falling into complete disrepair, glad I could document this old place before it’s gone. Thank you for watching.
