My first conducting gig!
A full circle moment as well! The day of opening night marked exactly 10 years since I saw it on Broadway! If you look closely, you can see my good luck charm for the show: my Broadway playbill!
This fun gig required a lot of flexibility as we did not have the full orchestration and the pit was remote, meaning we had to mic everything and set up visual and audio aids. Since the space was so small, only three of the actors were using microphones. Our solution: attach small pencil condenser mics to the set. We used in ears for this show since we used a click (MainStage metronome) and a talkback. The system that we used only allowed for a shared mix, meaning whatever we heard in our ears also went to the house (with the exception of the click and talkback of course). I will post another video explaining our set up and how we made it work. I also programmed all the patches and QLab files for this show as well.
