Pacific faculty and student team propel advances in AI ocean research

Artificial intelligence is being used in groundbreaking ways to forecast underwater ocean debris, a growing threat to marine ecosystems that is nearly impossible to track with traditional tools.

At Pacific, computer science major Abdullah Tariq Choudhry ’25 is leading Neural Oceans, an initiative that harnesses AI to tackle this challenge head-on.
