Effective electric vehicle (EV) energy consumption modeling requires accurately predicting the energy used to maintain optimal cabin comfort, motor temperature, and battery thermal conditions. In this webinar, we present a physics-based, fully coupled approach for estimating EV energy usage across varying environmental conditions using TAITherm, the Human Thermal Extension, and a thermal-electrical battery model integrated with a 0D EV energy consumption model.
Our experts will demonstrate how TAITherm’s 3D heat transfer solver and human thermal comfort modeling can quantify the energy required to regulate cabin, motor, and battery temperatures. We will also show how the 0D model computes motor energy consumption for a given drive cycle, enabling a comprehensive analysis of total EV energy demand.
To streamline this workflow, we use CoTherm, ThermoAnalytics’ process automation software, to couple the thermal models and automate the simulation process. This method will be applied to a representative EV operating on a city drive cycle across three different environmental scenarios, allowing us to compare the impacts of thermal management strategies on overall vehicle energy consumption.
