GBO2 Methuss: The ultimate flying rat suit!

This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV2 Methuss on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 500-600 cost general with a pretty good transform mode, high DPS charged beam pistols, pretty good stagger accumulation alongside it being really slippery when played correctly. It suffers from awful MS form mobility, awful melee ability, awful close range combat ability alongside low HP. I never really played this suit when it was meta, but even all these years later after it was nerfed, it still feels like it has big damage potential under the right conditions. Its primary weapon at LV2 is a pair of beam pistols with 367x2x2 (630x2x4) power, 19%x2 (22%x4) heat, 20 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 355m (455m) range, 3 seconds focus time and 15%x2x2 (25%x2x4) stagger value. This weapon is the meat and potatoes of the Methuss. The uncharged mode is pretty mediocre, but the charged mode fires a 4 shot burst with incredible damage output and stagger accumulation. It doesn't instant stagger, so you need good aim to hit the full burst, but it can deal incredible damage if you can keep hitting it throughout the match.
Its primary melee weapon at LV2 is a beam saber with 1890 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and standard modifiers. This does pretty awful damage and cannot combo swing, so it is only useful for self defence.
Its first sub weapon is a pair of bazookas with 1155x2 power, 10 seconds reload, 7 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds reload, 1.7 seconds swap time, 400m range and 40%x2 stagger value. This is basically on par with the primary weapon version of the clay bazooka, but it doesn't fit particularly well with this suits kit. You cannot combo from your beam pistols into the bazooka, and comboing from the bazooka into the uncharged pistols is pretty ineffective. They are still worth using in self defence though, or while your beam pistols are cooling off, since you can still combo them into your transformed form beam guns.
Its second sub weapon is a flash grenade with 0 power, 1 ammo, 14 seconds reload, 1 second swap time and 0% stagger value. This instant staggers, but it needs to land right in front of the enemy to do so.
While transformed it has access to a pair of beam guns with 367x2 power, 30% heat, 10 seconds overheat, 0.5 seconds swap time, 450m range and 17%x2 stagger value. These can be fired while boosting and can provide a source of extra DPS to end combos with. They are especially effective to use after firing your MS form charged beam pistols.

The LV2 Methuss has 17500 HP, 25 beam/ballistic resist and 10 melee resist. It is really squishy, even more squishy if you are going with a glass cannon build like in this video. If you get caught by a melee general, it is over, so do your best to avoid close range combat. It has a 15% damage reduction buffer for the legs, a 10% reduction buffer for the back, LV2 Damage Control and LV1 Emergency Evasion, but no Maneuver Armor. LV2 Damage Control pairs really well with your MA form, since it makes you much harder to shoot down. You can abuse this to safely fly around the map when repositioning to safer areas.
In terms of mobility it has 140 (190) walking speed, 195 (235) boosting speed, 75 thrust and 54 turning speed. It has pretty awful mobility in MS form, but it is pretty fast while transformed, despite still having poor turning speed. For mobility skills, t has LV2 Flight Control but no Forced Injector in MS form, in MA form it has Transformation Optimizer LV1.


In conclusion, I feel that despite the Methuss being quite old, it is still a pretty good option if you can hit the charged pistol burst. It is undeniably squishy, and it cannot chain staggers or anything, but the ability to just constantly fly around the map to reposition between charged pistol bursts is really strong even to this day. You could instantly take 8k HP away from a raid, even more if you can transform and shoot them again. Apart from the LV2 Gaza D, it is the only 500 cost general that can fly around and shoot all day, so it has a pretty good niche. This niche kind of evaporates at 550 cost since you could just play the Asshimar instead, but the LV2 Methuss gains the option of taking a double ranged overtune glass cannon build, which lets it do the ludicrous burst damage you see in this video. I am not sure if I could recommend it for everybody, it feels kind of hard to play since the charged pistols do not instant stagger, you need to be able to track them while they move to hit the full thing. But if you do have good aim, and if you enjoy playing shooter transforming generals, then maybe the Methuss would be good for you. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!
