My Top Tips on Learning the Parawing so you can Start Downwinding and Wave Riding

Here is just a few quick and easy tips when learning the parawing to give you the ability to get into the waves and start downwinding!

1 - Learn on a BIG board or DW board, something that has enough float
for you to stand on without the parawing.

2 - Learn on a BIG foil also, this will give you the best ability to pump yourself
up, as the parawing does not give you much stability. Once you learn the get up
you can size down your foil.

3. When learning to stow away, wear a rashie or bag you can tuck the parawing into.
You want to be pointing DIRECTLY downwind before grabbing the bottom handle
and depowering. It will just fall out of the sky if done correctly.

4. I like to hold the bar when I tuck the shute into my rashie, it stops the
parawing from tangling as much and gives you a better chance to redeploy

5. The get up is very similar to a paddle up, Lean forward point downind and
use the momentum from the bump energy with the wind to pump yourself up.

6. The Parawing has a pretty small wind window. In these clips I am riding the FLOW
3m and I get overpowered at about 25+knots and underpowered at 15 knots

7. Redeploy early when you still have speed and glide to give it time to untangle.
Don’t leave it to the last minute

8. Gybing is tricky, you really have to rely on your foil. Glide around, switch hands
and gently turn the bar. Twis the bar upwards to keep the kite flying high in front of you.
