A commission to create a handmade ring using a beautiful antique jade set in 22ct gold.
I would like to share with you the experience of making a contemporary single stone ring by hand, made as special bespoke gift for a special occasion. The gemstone used is a natural antique jade oval cabochon with a fantastic colour. The rich and warmth of the 22ct gold compliments the stunning green of the jade and is brushed to give a smooth and tactile feel and contemporary look. In this video you will see me making a bezel setting around the stone and creating a space within the ring I hand-carved and cast, for the setting to sit. I then set the stone in a traditional method, using a setting tool and hammer to create a 'rub-over' setting.
