After a quick diagnosis, it turned out that the RS485 transceiver chip had failed and caused a short circuit, which also damaged the linear voltage regulator. I walk through the full repair process: locating the fault, replacing the damaged RS485 chip and voltage regulator, and measuring the board to confirm everything is working again.
