Section 119(5) of the 1991 constitution of Sierra Leone makes provision for audit reports to be debated before assigned to a committee appointed by the House for further probing of those accused in the report in the interest of the Public, but this has not been the practice over the years. The Standing Order of Parliament however contradicts that provision stating that the report should be dealt with by the Public Accounts committee before the house can debate the report of the committee.
This has made some Members of Parliament to express concerns and even stated that Parliament has failed in that direction to protect the constitution. Joseph Johnson finds out why parliament has not been debating audit reports.
