The Midnight Box — 80s Vibe AI Music — Based on Original Music

When I explained the idea behind Synthetic Echoes—a space to share AI generated songs built from my original work—someone asked me, "Won't you eventually run out of songs?"

The answer is...yes and no.

What I am discovering is that AI is an incredible playground. Even the roughest scraps—those half-finished audio files, abandoned ideas, and what I now lovingly call my "garbage files"—can spark something new. Buried in those thousands of fragments are chord progressions, melodic sketches, and false starts that can be reshaped and reimagined.

And beyond that, the process itself, and the possibilities, keeps me inspired. Experimenting with AI and having a place to share the results—it all nudges me back into writing new material and recording fresh demos.

"The Midnight Box" is a perfect example. It started as a tiny experiment a quick and quirky track with nonsense lyrics just to chase a melody. Certainly, it went into the garbage files for a reason. But...what if?

I decided to give it real words, uploaded the audio for AI to catch its vibe, and asked the system to lean into an 80s feel.

Hey, after all, it's the stuff I grew up on. In many ways, a lot of my own music is influenced from that era. Talking Heads was one of my favorite bands. And the abstract music of David Byrne still interests me to this day.

What came out the other side was this quirky little tune—something out of nothing, really.

So, will I ever run out of songs? Honestly, with all of this in the mix, I don't think that's even possible.
