Ozempic and Wegovy are Associated with an Eye Condition that Causes Blindness

Dr. Montgomery will discuss a recent study that showed the association between taking semaglutide, the active ingredient of Ozempic and Wegovy, and an eye condition known as non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy or NAION. This eye condition consists of the degeneration of the optic nerve. It can clinically present as the sudden onset of blindness and is painless.
