Bruichladdich's Octomore series - released in numbered, annual batch editions - has reached Batch 15. I have all three bottles in the series: 15.1, 15.2., and 15.3 - and will be reviewing and rating all three over the next two weeks! In this episode, I discuss what makes Octomore so special, then I rate and review 15.1, "the control". 59.1% ABV, 5 years aged in bourbon and recharged bourbon casks. The malt has a peat content measured at 108.2 PPM (for comparison's sake, Lagavulin is 35 PPM), but it's not overpowering, and is actually drinkable. How can this be? In this video, I'll propose some possible explanations.
Subscribe so you won't miss next's week's video rating and reviewing 15.2 (the same spirit in bourbon and wine casks, before being finished in cognac casks) and 15.3 (all Islay-barley, with a PPM of 307.2!)
