In this R&B / Neo soul guitar tutorial, I selected the song, Get Gone, by Ideal. This lesson is more than merely learning the chords to a song. There are many nuggets in this song. I want you to focus on the R&B guitar techniques I'm demonstrating, look at the R&B lick I'm showing you, learn the chord progression and learn the 7sus4 to dominant movement. Chords used are C minor 7, D minor 7, Eb Major 7 and G7Sus4 to G7. That's an ii-ii-IV-vi chord progression.

Improving is all about focusing on the "little things" and get it under your fingers. Focus on getting a clean sound. Record yourself so you can go back and hear how you sound. Take the progression and try a different lick.
