The market takes place annually in the Neckarstadt Esslingen around the town hall square and the harbor market. The cultural program begins every year on the Tuesday before the first Advent. There are entertainment by fire-eaters, musicians or storytellers, jugglers, stilt artists or dealers. Visitors are offered over 200 stands with a total of 500 program items. Against the backdrop of Esslingen, the annual highlights include a medieval concert in the St. Paul Minster, the torchlight procession to the castle and hands-on workshops. Tin casters, felters, blacksmiths, rope makers, basket weavers, broom makers, glassblowers and other craftsmen demonstrate old handicrafts at the market.
